The Summer Boost Program helps kids from PreK through 9th grade strengthen their reading and math skills and get ready for the next school year. This special 6-week course is designed to build confidence and spark joy in learning, giving students a strong academic boost in both subjects before they move up a grade.
Q: What is the Summer Boost Program?
A: The Summer Boost Program is a way for kids, grades PreK to 9, to level up their math and reading skills to prep for the next grade level.
Q: Where can I find the Summer Boost Program breakdown?
A: Check out this slide deck to help keep organized along the way!
Q: If I have a one week vacation planned, can I still participate?
A: One week will be fine. Just make sure to communicate this with families and CS asap. You should also make sure to add your vacations to your out of office calendar.
Q; Are certain classes set for reading or math?
A; You can work on whichever subject you see fit for your Summer Boost kid in each class. Classes are a blend of reading and math, so find ways to touch on both subjects in a way you see fit.
Example: Alternate subjects every other class or split class time in half to cover both subjects in a single class.
Q: Are you providing the curriculum?
A: Just like with our regular classes you will be providing a curriculum based on what the kid most needs to be ready for the next grade.
Q: What assessment do I use in the first class?
A: You should be using the assessment for the grade the student will be going into for the next school year.
You can make a copy and use the appropriate grade level slide deck from here.
Q: Is the first class with a new student a trial class?
A: Yes, the first class is a trial class and parents will need to take the step to subscribe after that first session. To maximize your time, we recommend suggesting 2 classes/week when families subscribe.
Q: How will I know a student on my schedule is part of the summer program?
A: These classes will be labeled as “summer prep” on your schedule.
Q: Can my current subscription students join the summer program?
A: Current subscription students can be part of the summer program and you don't need to change anything with their subscription. You can offer to evaluate the child in reading and math to prepare for the next grade level, or suggest increasing the number of classes/week.
Q: Can families Auto-Subscribe?
A: Yes! Some families have chosen to jump right in, without a trial! You’ll see “Auto Subscribed” in your dashboard for these families. Their first class should still be an assessment, but use the time at the end of the class to set goals instead of helping the family subscribe.
Q: What happens with these subscriptions after 6 weeks ?
A: The subscription does not automatically end at 6 weeks . You'll have the opportunity to maintain the subscription and transition into the school year.
Q: When does the summer program start and end?
A: Summer Boost will start to be offered to families as the school year ends, so the start dates will be staggered, starting at the end of May and continuing through mid-June.
Q: How many goals should kids complete during this summer program?
A: We have a list of suggested goals to complete over the 6 weeks . Select as many or as few as you feel are appropriate. As goals are completed, you can replace them with new goals!
