We’re rolling out a new feature that lets you cancel classes via text message; no internet or login needed. This is designed to help you cancel quickly when you're in a tough spot, like during an emergency or connectivity issue.
This feature is only for immediate cancellations. If you’re unavailable for a future time or day, please continue to use the OOO tool in your Tutor Portal.
What this feature is for
Emergencies happen. We built this for situations where:
- Your laptop freezes or crashes
- Your Wi-Fi goes down and you can’t log in
- You’re unexpectedly stuck or dealing with something urgent
Instead of waiting for your tech to reboot, coming online to cancel, or no-showing, just send us a quick message, and we’ll have you covered.
How it works
Step 1: Save this number +1 (628) 280-6494 in your phone as “Dojo Tutor SOS” or something memorable.
Step 2: From your registered phone number, send a message like:
- Cancel next two hours
- Cancel next 30 minutes
- Cancel all day
That’s it! We’ll:
- Cancel any classes scheduled in that window.
- Add Out of Office (OOO) time on your behalf.
- Reply with confirmation of the cancellations made.
Response time: The system usually processes requests in under 5 minutes. Please wait and don’t send duplicate messages.
Rules to keep in mind
This feature only works if:
⚠️ You text from the phone number you’ve registered with us.
⚠️ You need to cancel classes immediately (not later today or tomorrow).
⚠️ You use a duration for the cancellation (e.g. 3 hours, all day).
Do not:
❌ Use a specific time (e.g., "cancel 4pm" won't work as our tool doesn’t know your timezone).
❌ Use it to cancel classes in the future. For now, you should use the OOO tool in your Tutor Portal instead.
❌ Expect to undo a cancellation. The actions can’t be reversed.
❌ Send messages to test how this works; they will cancel real classes!
Frequently asked questions
Q: What if I send a message from a different phone number?
A: It won’t work. For now, we’re only supporting requests coming from your registered phone number. If you need to double-check, look for an email containing “SMS cancellation” in the subject: there you’ll find the last 4 digits of the phone number we have registered.
Q: Can I undo a cancellation?
A: No. Once it’s sent, the cancellation is immediate and final.
Q: What if I need to cancel a class later today or tomorrow?
A: Use the OOO tool in your Tutor Portal. This SMS feature is only for immediate cancellations.
Q: What if I send “cancel my 4pm class”?
A: The system won’t recognize that, as it doesn’t understand timezones (yet!). Please use a duration like “cancel 1 hour”, “cancel 3 hours” or “cancel all day”.
Q: What happens after I send a message?
A: We’ll add OOO time for the duration you requested and cancel any classes during that window. We’ll confirm by text.
Q: I waited but didn’t get a reply. What should I do?
A: It can take up to 5 minutes. If you don’t hear back after that, email us at tutoring-support@classdojo.com.
Q: Can I test this with a fake message?
A: Please don’t. Any valid message will trigger real class cancellations.
