Responding to Family Reviews 🎤

Your responses help build trust, strengthen relationships, and improve the tutoring experience.

At Dojo Tutor, parent feedback is an important part of creating a high-quality learning environment. Families use reviews to share what’s working well, highlight areas for improvement, and help us ensure every student is matched with the right tutor.

As a tutor, you may have the opportunity to reply to parent reviews. Here’s what to know.

✅ Who Can Reply?

Only active Dojo Tutor tutors can reply to reviews left by a student’s parent or guardian.

Tutor replies are optional, but encouraged, especially when a family shares helpful feedback or raises concerns.

✍️ When Tutor Replies Are Available

You may be able to respond after a parent leaves a written review on one of your completed sessions.

Replies are meant to be:

  • Short and professional
  • Supportive and student-centered
  • Focused on growth and partnership

⭐ What Makes a Great Reply?

The best tutor responses are warm, appreciative, and constructive.

A strong reply often includes:

1. Gratitude

Thank the family for taking the time to share feedback.

2. Acknowledgment

Recognize what they shared, especially if something didn’t go perfectly.

3. Commitment to Improvement

If appropriate, reassure them that you’ll apply the feedback moving forward.

4. Positive, Forward-Looking Tone

Keep the focus on the student’s progress and future sessions.

🚫 What Tutors Should Not Include

To protect families, students, and tutors, replies must not include:

  • Personal contact information (phone number, email, social media)
  • Requests to move tutoring off-platform
  • Student-sensitive details or private information
  • Defensive, argumentative, or disrespectful language
  • Mention of internal policies, investigations, or compensation

Tutor replies should always remain professional and appropriate for a family-facing setting. For more details, see our Community Guidelines.

⚖️ Handling Critical or Low-Star Reviews

We understand that receiving a negative review can feel difficult.

If a review is below 5 stars, we encourage tutors to:

  • Stay calm and professional
  • Thank the family for the feedback
  • Avoid blame or back-and-forth
  • Focus on what you can improve going forward

If you believe a review violates our content guidelines, please contact Support rather than addressing it directly in your reply.

🚨 Responses That May Be Removed

Dojo Tutor may remove reviews that contain:

  • Offensive or abusive language
  • Harassment or discrimination
  • Personal information
  • Clearly irrelevant content

Tutors cannot edit parent reviews, but Support can review concerns when needed.

🔐 Privacy & Visibility

Tutor replies are visible to everyone, not just the reviewing family.

Please remember:

  • Families will see your tutor profile name
  • Replies should remain respectful and student-focused
  • Do not share any private details about the student or household
