๐ŸŽ“ Group Classes on Dojo Tutor: Live Learning in Small Groups

Group Classes bring together 2 or more students in a live online session led by a tutor. This article explains how they work, how they are different from 1:1 tutoring, and what you can expect as a family.

๐Ÿ’ก How it works

Group Classes are live online sessions where your child learns alongside a small group of peers.

Hereโ€™s what that looks like:

  • A tutor creates a class around a specific topic or theme
  • You choose a class that fits your childโ€™s interests and schedule
  • Your child joins a live session with other students
  • The tutor guides the group through structured activities and learning

Unlike 1:1 tutoring, Group Classes are built around a set topic planned in advance. The experience is shared by the whole group, which allows for discussion, collaboration, and interactive learning.

๐ŸŒŸ Why choose Group Classes

For kids

Group learning can be a fun, energizing experience for many kids!

They can:

  • Learn alongside peers and build social confidence
  • Practice collaboration and communication skills
  • Explore enrichment topics like STEM challenges, storytelling, or social-emotional learning
  • Experience tutoring in a format that feels interactive and engaging

For many kids, learning with others feels motivating and less intimidating.

For families

  • Group Classes are designed to be more flexible and affordable.
  • Pricing starts at $10 per session!

Unlike regular 1:1 tutoring sessions, there are no free or trial Group Classes at this time.

๐Ÿ“š What to expect

Group Classes are structured and topic-based.

When browsing classes, you will see:

  • A class name
  • A class picture
  • A short summary
  • A detailed description
  • A suggested grade range
  • The subject

Grade ranges are suggestions. You can enroll in the class that feels like the best fit for your child.

Class size is limited to a maximum of 8 students to support participation and interaction.

Tutors also choose the days and times the class meets and the classโ€™s length (25 or 55 minutes). This means you may see a variety of topics and schedules to choose from.

Types of Group Classes

Group Classes can be offered in different formats. At this time, classes are weekly recurring.

Weekly recurring classes

  • Meet once per week
  • Students can join at any time, if space is available
  • Continue running until the tutor ends the class

This format gives families flexibility and makes it easier to enroll without waiting for a specific start date.

In the future, additional formats may include:

  • One-off classes that meet only once
  • Cohort classes with a set start and end date

๐Ÿ” Finding and enrolling in a Group Class

Group Classes have their own search experience, separate from 1:1 tutoring.

You can:

  • Browse only Group Classes
  • Explore topics, grade ranges, and schedules

This makes it easier to clearly choose the type of experience that fits your childโ€™s needs.

โš ๏ธ Important things to know

  • Group Classes are not personalized like 1:1 tutoring
  • There are no Trial sessions for Group Classes
  • The tutor decides the topic and structure of each class
  • Grade ranges are suggestions, not strict requirements
  • Class size is capped at 8 students
  • Families cannot reschedule a Group Class session; you can only cancel a session

Group Classes are designed to balance affordability, structure, and a positive student experience.
