FAQ

Q: Who can I teach Spanish to?
A: You can teach Spanish to learners of any grade level or background—from beginners to more advanced students. Once you submit the application form, our team will review it within 3 business days, and you’ll be all set to start!

Q: What skills will I focus on in Spanish sessions?
A: Depending on your students' grade and level, your lessons will be designed to help students:

  • Speak clearly and confidently
  • Read age-appropriate texts and stories
  • Write sentences and short passages
  • Understand spoken and written Spanish
  • Expand vocabulary and apply grammar in context

Q: What is considered Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced?
A: Great question! Here's a quick breakdown to help you decide which level might be the best fit for your teaching style and experience:

  • Beginner: These students are in the Pre-Production or Early Production stage of language acquisition. They're just starting out and ready to learn basic words, common phrases, and simple sentences. If you enjoy introducing Spanish in a fun, simple, and encouraging way, this might be your level!
  • Intermediate: These learners are typically in the Speech Emergence stage. They can form simple sentences and are ready to expand their vocabulary and practice using longer, more structured sentences. Teaching this level is great if you like helping students build confidence and fluency in familiar topics.
  • Advanced: Students at this level are in the Intermediate Fluency or Advanced Fluency stage. With the right support, they're ready to use more complex language, ask thoughtful questions, and participate in academic-style discussions. If you're excited by deeper conversations and advanced grammar, this could be the right fit for you.

Q: What's the goal of the Spanish trial session?
A: To evaluate the student’s ability to speak, read, write, and understand Spanish. You’ll use the trial slide deck to guide the assessment and set meaningful goals based on the student’s needs.

Q: Do I need to speak only Spanish during sessions?
A: Use as much Spanish as is appropriate for the student’s level. Total immersion is great for advanced learners, while beginners may benefit from a mix of Spanish and English for clarity and confidence.

Q: Do I need to set goals for each Spanish student?
A: Yes! Personalized goals help track progress and keep students motivated. For example:

  • “Hold a 3-minute conversation about daily routines”
  • “Read and understand a short story”
  • “Write 5 sentences about a favorite food”

Q: What happens after the trial session?
A: Just like with other subjects:

  • Share your observations and recommended goals
  • Collaborate with the student and family on a plan
  • Help them schedule their next session using the QR code provided on the slides
