Math trial assessment

As with all subjects, students begin Math with a trial assessment. Use the provided slide deck to evaluate the learner’s understanding of key math concepts at their grade level: such as computation strategies, number sense, or problem solving. This session helps you pinpoint their strengths and growth areas so you can set personalized math goals and craft lessons that build both skill and confidence. Here is where you find all math trial slide decks.

Weekly math classes

Here is the pacing guide for weekly math classes:

  1. Introductions: Welcome your student back to class. Catch up with them before you get started. Ask how they’re doing or if they’ve read anything fun lately.
  2. Goal Review: Revisit previously set math goals or strategies to reinforce learning.
  3. Main Lesson: Dive into your planned math content. This might include direct instruction, guided practice, hands-on activities, math games, or real world problem solving.
  4. Wrap-up: Review what was covered, revisit your math goals, and share what’s coming in your next session.

  • Number Sense: understanding numbers, counting, place value
  • Operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
  • Algebraic Thinking: patterns, equations, expressions
  • Geometry: shapes, spatial reasoning, properties
  • Measurement & Data: time, length, graphs, charts
Each lesson is customized to help the student master grade-appropriate skills while developing problem-solving strategies.

Q: What is the purpose of the Math trial assessment?
A: The trial helps you identify where the student currently is in their math journey. You’ll use the Math trial slide deck to assess their understanding and plan next steps.

Q: Do I need physical manipulatives for tutoring math?
