Completing Your Tutor Profile ✨🧑‍🏫

Your Tutor Profile is your public page that parents will see in their journey to find a tutor for their child. Think of it as your “storefront”: a place where families can learn about who you are, your teaching style, your experience, and what makes you unique.

Completing your profile helps ensure families can find you and understand whether you’re the right fit for their child.

Your Profile Matters

When families are signing up, they want to know who their child will be learning from. Your profile helps families feel confident and excited about working with you.

A strong profile:

  • Helps families get to know your teaching style and personality
  • Builds trust and credibility
  • Makes it easier for families to choose you when browsing tutors
  • Helps you stand out based on your strengths, background, and experience

In short: The more complete and warm your profile is, the more likely families are to choose you.

Where to Edit Your Profile

You can access your profile in your Tutor Dashboard → Profile. To edit your profile and the information in it, click the pencil icon next to each section, as seen in the screenshot below.

Here, you’ll be able to fill in information about yourself, depending on the section you’re in.

  • About you:
    • Your photo
    • Your name
    • Your display name (i.e., the name parents see for you on their end)
    • Location and time zone
    • Years of experience
    • Your bio
    • Your introduction video
  • Subjects:
    • Subjects and grade levels you teach
  • Specialties
    • Specialties you’re certified and willing to teach
  • Languages
    • Languages you’re fluent in
  • Academic background
    • Your education and certifications

What to Include

1. Profile Photo

This is the first thing families see.

  • Use a clear, well-lit photo
  • Face the camera directly
  • Smile and keep the background simple

Tip: Think “warm, friendly teacher,” not formal headshot.

2. Intro Video

A short video helps parents see your warmth and teaching personality.

Keep it simple:

  • On average, videos are between 30 - 60 seconds
  • Introduce yourself
  • Share your teaching approach
  • Record in a quiet, well-lit space

No fancy editing needed! Your authentic self is the best. Your experience, story, and personality are what make you a great tutor. For more details on what makes a great intro video, check out this article.

3. Your Bio

This is where your personality comes through.

You’ll answer a few prompts, such as:

  • Tell families a bit about you
  • How would you describe your teaching style?
  • What do you enjoy most about working with kids?

Aim for: Warm, reassuring, and friendly

You don’t need to write a long essay. 1–3 short paragraphs is perfect.

4. Subjects + Grade Levels

Choose the subjects and grades you’re confident and comfortable teaching.

This helps ensure families who need your expertise can find you.

5. Languages You Speak

If you can communicate fluently in languages beyond English, list them.

This helps connect you with families who may prefer communication in another language.

6. Education & Certifications

Share your educational background and any certifications you hold.

  • Just school names, degrees, and dates are enough; no need to add transcripts.

Tips for Making Your Profile Stand Out
