About the Math subject area
Math classes build number sense, problem-solving skills, and mathematical confidence. Great math classes go beyond worksheets; they make math feel like a puzzle to solve, not a chore to finish. Anything math-focused belongs here: arithmetic, geometry, logic, patterns, and more.
Note: A key thing to keep in mind: because learners can join any week, math classes should not build sequentially (e.g., “Week 1: addition, Week 2: subtraction, Week 3: we use both”). Each session should stand on its own. Think of it like a math gym; each visit is a complete workout, not chapter 3 of a textbook.

Title: Math Escape Room Challenge
Summary: Students solve exciting math puzzles to “escape” themed rooms each week, building problem-solving skills and mathematical confidence through collaborative challenges.
Class Description
Each week, learners enter a brand-new themed escape room packed with math puzzles. From cracking codes in an ancient Egyptian tomb to unlocking a spaceship before liftoff, students work together to solve age-appropriate math challenges that feel like play. This enrichment-focused approach helps learners think flexibly about math while building speed, accuracy, and confidence in a low-pressure, high-energy setting.
Session Structure & Pacing
Each session kicks off with the week’s escape room story setup and the first clue, then learners collaborate to solve 6–8 math puzzles that unlock the next stage, and we celebrate our escape with a debrief on the strategies we used. Learners actively participate by sharing their thinking, trying different approaches, and cheering each other on.
Materials & Setup
Learners need paper and a pencil for scratch work. A small whiteboard is helpful but not required. All puzzles are shared on screen; no printing needed. Please ensure your child has a quiet space where they can speak comfortably and participate actively.
Tips for Families
Who would this class be great for? This class works great for learners who enjoy puzzles, mysteries, and a little friendly competition. All skill levels are welcome; I include puzzles at different difficulty levels so every learner can contribute. Learners should be comfortable with basic math operations for their grade level. No prior escape room experience needed!
Parent guidance: This class makes math practice feel like an adventure rather than homework. Parents are welcome to sit nearby, especially for younger learners who might enjoy the extra
