Group Classes Listing Guidelines: Mindfulness Example

About the Mindfulness subject area

Mindfulness classes help learners build calm, focus, and body awareness through practices like yoga, meditation, breathing exercises, and movement. Great mindfulness classes make these practices accessible and fun for kids, not serious or intimidating.

Example Listing

Title: Yoga Around the Zoo

Summary: Learners practice kid-friendly yoga poses inspired by a different zoo animal each week, building flexibility, balance, and calm through playful movement and guided breathing.

Class Description

Each week, we “visit” a different animal at our imaginary zoo and learn yoga poses inspired by how that animal moves, stretches, and rests. Learners practice balance with flamingo pose, build strength with bear walks, and find calm with sleeping sloth relaxation. Along the way, they learn simple breathing techniques and mindfulness skills they can use anytime they need to feel grounded. It’s active enough to burn energy, calm enough to build focus, and silly enough to keep kids coming back.

Session Structure & Pacing

Each session begins with a guided breathing exercise and our “zoo ticket” arrival, moves through a sequence of 5–7 animal-themed poses with movement and balance challenges, and closes with a calm-down story and final resting pose. I cue every pose on camera and offer modifications for different comfort levels.

Materials & Setup

Learners need enough floor space to stretch out their arms and a yoga mat or towel. Comfortable clothing that they can move in is recommended. No shoes needed! A stuffed animal can be a fun prop for breathing exercises (placing it on their belly to watch it rise and fall).

Tips for Families

Who would this class be great for? This class is perfect for active kids who need help winding down, calm kids who enjoy gentle movement, and everyone in between. No yoga experience is needed. I offer easier and more challenging versions of every pose, so all abilities are welcome.

Parent guidance: Yoga and mindfulness skills transfer beautifully to everyday life; many parents notice their child using breathing techniques before tests, at bedtime, or during frustrating moments. Younger learners (grades K–1) may benefit from a parent nearby for the first session. This is movement-based, so please ensure a safe, clear space.
