General
Q: What is a trial class?
A: A trial class is an assessment session where the tutor creates custom activities outlining the student’s strengths and opportunities for improvement. After the session, you may book ongoing classes based on the tutor’s recommendations.
Q: Where does it take place?
A: The class will take place online over Zoom. Our tutoring sessions are unique; this means that no one other than you will have access to your Zoom link or session.
Q: Does my child have to be present in this session?
A: Yes, the trial class is between the tutor and the student. The tutor will discuss their assessment and recommendation with you after the session.
Q: How much does the session cost?
A: A trial session costs $10 per subject/student. Note that this is not a recurring session.
Technical Requirements
Q: Do I need a computer to join the class?
A: Your child may access their classes through a laptop, tablet, or even a smartphone. The only requirement is that you have a functional microphone, camera, and stable internet connection.
Q: Can we use the Chromebook from school?

Q: Do I need to download Zoom?
A: We recommend downloading the latest version of the Zoom application before the session and testing your audio and video connection to ensure uninterrupted connection during the class.

Scheduling
Q: How can I reschedule a trial class?

Q: How can I cancel a trial class and get a refund?
A: You can easily cancel your class and get a full refund by following these steps. The class must be canceled at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time to get a full refund. Cancellation with less than 24 hours' notice may not be eligible for a refund as the tutor would have been paid for the session. Read more about our Advanced Cancellation policy here.
Q: What happens if our tutor misses the class?
A: In almost all cases, teachers give at least four hours notice before rescheduling or canceling a class. On the rare occasion that teachers miss a class without prior notice, we will reschedule the class on your preferred date and time, which will be cost-free. Contact our Customer Support team for assistance in rescheduling the class.
Q: We missed our session, what can I do?
A: If you miss your session without notice or cancel your class less than 24 hours before the start time, we will have to charge you for the class given that the teacher would have been engaged and connected for the duration of the class. You may book another trial session through your Dojo Tutor online account.
Class Preparation
Q: How do we join the class?
A: All classes take place on Zoom, but you do not need a Zoom link or ID to join; the link to join is always available in your Dojo Tutor online account. Check out these steps to help you join the class.
Q: What do we need to prepare before the class?
A: We highly recommend downloading the latest version of the Zoom application to the device you are using. Your device must have a stable internet connection, a webcam, and a microphone. Make sure to test your audio and video connection before the session.
Post-session
Q: What happens after the class?

Q: How can I communicate with the tutor?
A: You may contact our Customer Support team if you want to communicate anything with your tutor such as focusing on specific topics or reviewing school homework.
Q: How can I book a weekly session?
A: At the end of the trial class, the tutor will help you book a recurring session(s). If you’re not ready to book just yet, you may log in to your Dojo Tutor online account and book the weekly sessions whenever you’re ready.
