Overview
We’re piloting a new In-Session AI Assistant to help tutors feel more supported during trial classes.
The AI Assistant is designed to provide helpful reminders and insights during a trial class, especially as the session is wrapping up. It is not used to evaluate tutors, impact tutor metrics, or make decisions about tutor performance.
This feature will be available by opt-in only and will be gradually rolled out to more tutors during the pilot.
What is the In-Session AI Assistant?
The In-Session AI Assistant is a support tool that may appear during trial classes to help you make the most of the session.
The Assistant is focused on trial class support. For example, it may help by:
- Reminding you when the trial class is almost over
- Prompting you to leave time to speak with the parent or guardian
- Providing a short real-time summary to help you wrap up the session
- Helping you highlight what the student worked on during the class
- Supporting a clear, helpful end-of-class conversation with the family
The goal is to give you useful in-the-moment support while you continue leading the class in your own teaching style.
Where will I see the AI Assistant?
During the pilot, the AI Assistant will only appear in trial classes for tutors who have opted in.
It will not appear in regular subscription classes at this time.
How does it work during a trial class?
If you are opted in and teaching an eligible trial class, the Assistant may appear during the session with helpful reminders or suggestions.
For the MVP pilot, the main reminder will appear when there are about 5 minutes left in the trial class. This reminder is meant to help you leave enough time to:
- Wrap up the lesson
- Speak with the parent or guardian
- Share what the student worked on
- Recommend next steps, when appropriate
You should continue using your own professional judgment during the class. The Assistant is there as a resource, not as a script you are required to follow.
Is the AI Assistant evaluating me?
No. The AI Assistant is not punitive and is not used to evaluate your teaching.
The Assistant does not affect your tutor metrics, tutor status, class approvals, ratings, or access to future classes. It is only intended to provide helpful support during the session.
Do I have to use the AI Assistant?
No. This feature is opt-in only, and you can choose whether you would like to try it. We’ll continue gathering feedback as we continue to roll it out.
Will the AI Assistant appear in all of my classes?
No. During the pilot, the AI Assistant is only available for eligible trial classes. It will not appear in subscription classes at this time.
Do I need to change how I teach?
No. You should continue teaching your trial classes as you normally would.
The Assistant is meant to support the flow of the class, not replace your teaching approach. You are still in charge of the session, including how you explain concepts, respond to the student, and speak with the family.
Best practices for using the AI Assistant
If the AI Assistant appears during your trial class, you can use it as a helpful guide while continuing to stay focused on the student.
A few tips:
- Keep the student engaged throughout the session
- Leave a few minutes at the end to speak with the parent or guardian
- Use the end of the trial to summarize what the student worked on
- Share clear, supportive next steps with the family
- Use your own teaching judgment when deciding how to approach any AI suggestions
What should I do if the AI Assistant gives a suggestion that does not fit my class?
You do not need to follow every suggestion.
The Assistant may provide helpful reminders, but you should always use your professional judgment. If a suggestion does not fit the student, lesson, or situation, you can continue with what you believe is best for the class.
How can I share feedback?
We’d love to hear what you think.
If you are part of the pilot, please use this form to share feedback about your experience with the In-Session AI Assistant:
Your feedback will help us understand what is helpful, what feels distracting, and how we can improve the experience for tutors.
Frequently asked questions
Why is this only available for trial classes?
We are starting with trial classes because the Assistant is currently focused on supporting tutors with trial wrap-up, parent conversations, and end-of-session summaries.
Can I ask the AI Assistant questions during class?
Not for now. During this pilot, the Assistant is focused on providing in-session support and reminders by the end of the trial class. The exact experience may vary as we continue testing and improving the feature.
